Many coaching websites go up because the coach feels she "needs" a website. Because she's new in business, for instance, she's convinced that all new businesses must have a website - and thus, she should have one too.

Of course, there are good reasons to have a website: It can be a fantastic tool for growing your business. BUT approaching the issue of website acquisition with your only purpose being to satisfy the feeling of "I need one" is problematic.

It's problematic because if you go about getting a website just to have one, you will achieve that goal - you will simply "have" a website - but nothing more. It won't help you get clients. It won't help you build passive income. It won't sell your services.

You've seen these kinds of websites. They're usually 3-5 pages; include a list of services; the coach's credentials (i.e., coach-training schools, affiliations, etc.); and a photo of the coach.

How Relationship Marketing Can Make You Profits Online


Making profits online requires that you have a system that brings in the traffic (lots of it). There is no such thing as 'too much' traffic. Too much traffic is good.

Secondly, you need to be able to convert this traffic into sales. Get this right and it really does not matter what you are selling or promoting online you will make profits.

So, let's see how you get traffic to your websites and then how you convert this traffic to sales.

There are two main methods. Free or paid. Whichever one you choose will cost you time or money or both. There really is no such thing as free traffic. You must do something for it to get to your website. So called Free methods include - article marketing, forum marketing or list builder programs.

It should not really matter which of these you use. Just make sure it can deliver the huge amounts of traffic you need to convert to buyers.

Massive action is required to get massive amounts of traffic to your website. You will have certain limitations to overcome. For instance how many articles can you write in an hour? Or how much money can you invest in pay per click marketing?

Okay let's now move on to converting your traffic to sales.

So to convert your traffic you must first have it. There is really no point patting yourself on the back because you have made a few sales from each 1000 arriving at your website daily. The question you should consider is what are you going to do with this traffic? If you are simply satisfied with your few sales then you are missing the point about conversion. How many people are buying from you? 1000? Of course not, there is a percentage that is not going to buy from you first time round. This is why you must work on converting the 95-98% that do not buy on first visit to your website.

You must collect the names and addresses of a large percentage of the visitors arriving at your website. To do this you need to set up a lead capture system. The whole idea is that when people arrive at your website you encourage them to leave their name and address for you to contact them some time later with offers that may interest and help them.

I know they say that the money is in the list however building a list is really so that you can build a relationship with the people on your list. In plain and simple terms, if there is no relationship there is no conversion of your traffic from subscribers to buyers. This is one main reason why list building must not be overlooked or worse trivialised.

Some marketers' think you just build a list and the money will come. Well, sorry to disappoint but you must build a relationship with the people on your list. Don't rely on slick marketing. The people on your list will have to see that you are helping them otherwise they will not buy your products in the numbers you expect. They must know they can trust you. If they can trust you then it follows that they can trust your recommendations. After all you would not recommend rubbish to your friends would you?

If you get traffic and build a genuine relationship with it, your conversion rates will increase and what you will have is a responsive list. You will not even need a big list to make profits.

Making Profits online comes down to two things - getting targeted traffic to your website and capturing that traffic so you can build a relationship with it and convert it into sales. It however takes time and is certainly not a get rich quick thing.

Take heed when you next hear 'The money is in the list' the list is made up of people and people are won by relationships.

In this article, I wish to share with you some of the most effective tips that can truly set your coaching programs apart from the rest.

1. Get to know the needs of your trainees. Ask them ahead of time what they would like to know, what skills they would like to learn, and the goals that they would like to achieve. By doing so, you can easily adjust the elements that you are using on your coaching programs so they will suit their needs and demands.

2. Create a plan of action. After knowing the goals of your trainees, create a plan of action that can help these people realize their goals. Gather the information that they will need, design relevant activities, and gather useful resources.

3. Get your trainees to commit. Before you start the coaching program, talk to your trainees one by one and get them to commit in:
(1) finishing the coaching program,
(2) exerting the needed effort and time,
(3) doing all the activities and homework, and
(4) keeping an open mind all throughout the program.

In return, commit to helping them out and giving them all the support that they need.

4. Praise. Praise. Praise. Be very generous when praising your trainee each time they contribute or do something positive. Let them know how much you appreciate their efforts so you can motivate them to perform even better.

You may use images or illustrations to help your trainee visualize your thoughts and ideas and use simple terms that can be understood even by a fifth grader. Also, avoid beating around the bush and just get straight to the point to save your clients some time.

6. Get in the mood. Do not even think about coaching others when you feel frustrated or angry as this can affect not only the quality of your teaching but also your personal relationship with your clients.

7. Practice active listening. You must not only listen to what the client is saying but you must also understand the message that this person is not saying so you can easily understand where he is really coming from.
